‘Indigo Children’ winner of The Hornbill National Rock Contest
KOHIMA, DEC 7: Amidst a cheering crowd, some with metal heads, others with sheer love for music, Indigo Children Band from New Delhi was adjudged Winner of the famed Hornbill National Rock Contest tonight at IG Stadium Kohima.
The band walked away with a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakhs along with gift packages.
Meanwhile, Grammy Winning Effort, again from the country’s capital New Delhi was adjudged runner-up and awarded a cash prize of Rs. 3.5 lakhs while Girish and the Chronicles from Sikkim walked away with a cash prize of Rs.2.5 Lakhs for earning the third place.
Individual prizes included Best Vocalist which was bagged by Girish and the Chronicles from Sikkim, Best Bass Guitarist by Indigo Children from Newl Delhi, Best Drummer by Final Surrender from Bangalore, Best Lead Guitarist by the Girish and the Chronicles from Sikkim and the Best Band from Nagaland by Sunep Ensemble from Dimapur respectively. They were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 each.
Mention may be made here that the nine bands short-listed to compete in tonight’s grand finale from amongst 25 bands included Dosser Urge (Shillong), Grammy Winning Effort (New Delhi), Final Surrender (Bengaluru, Karnataka), Girish & The Chronicle (Gangtok, Sikkim), Arcane Deception (New Delhi), Noiseware (Pune, Maharashtra), Sunep Ensemble Band (Nagaland), Indigo Children (New Delhi) and Wolf’s Lair (Chennai, Tamil Nadu).
The judges were Dr Wabang Pongner, Thejove Medeo and Deepti Unni from Rolling Stones Magazine, Mumbai. (Eastern Mirror)
